generations after

Here's my summer art project. "Generations After." Click on the image below and it'll take you to the blog that will be documenting my progress. The first post is long, but it is an intro to why I have chosen to do this project. Btw, it will be my first time oil painting! Exciting! So stop by once in a while and give me some feedback. Thanks! :)

twenty-three

Ladies and gentlemen,
...I officially feel old.

I was texting with a friend of mine a couple of days before I came to Mexico, and he said that he feared this would be the last birthday that I would be a "Miss Lee." Haha, I'm not sure if that's the case, but this year is definitely going to be lots of changes for me as I truly head on into adulthood.
My mom mentioned this at dinner today too. As we sat in the restaurant at the Four Seasons Hotel (though I haven't been to Europe, that's what it feels like--as if I've stepped into Europe), and as she ate her bacalao, and I ate my risotto, she said, "이게 엄마랑, 지은이랑, 이렇게 같이 보내는 마지막 생일일수도 있겠네. 이제 부터는 일하느라 바쁘고, 그러고는 결혼생활 하느라 바쁠테고..." and while I laughed it off, I now sit and wonder.

No matter, today was a wonderful day. It's honestly been a while, but I felt right with God today. I think he was being extra generous with his blessings today in the light of it being my birthday and all. He is so good and faithful, and today I couldn't help but to smile as I spent some time with Him. It feels so good to bask in His love...I don't know why I let myself fall away, but I'm definitely going to try not to.

So, mi mamá not only took me out for a nice dinner, but she personally baked a cake for me too. Unfortunately, I didn't bring my camera (I know, smart -_-), but I tried to take a picture with photobooth...though it does it no justice.

It was super yummy :)

I wanted to take a picture with my mom, but guests came just as we finished making the cake...so that will have to wait 'til another time.

Well then, before this post gets too long, I'm going to leave. Thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday through facebook, emails, phone calls, gifts, and prayers. I really appreciate it and feel so grateful for the love shown to me which I do not deserve.

Oh, and last but not least...though I received it a couple days ago before I came to Mexico, I got a nook! Yay! It saved me on my 5 hour layover in Phoenix. Thanks 오빠~

It's awesome :) Everyone should get it! Then we can "lend" each other ebooks!

summer (part a)

It's now been about 2 weeks since I've quit work and moved out of San Diego.

It feels strange, and I realize that it's been a couple years since I've had nothing to do.
Yeah, I had summer vacations, but I actually took summer school for the first time in my life last year. I worked, too. Winter breaks, I worked or went on family trips, which by the way, does not count as doing nothing, because I think I'm far busier on those days than the days when I have school or work. It feels strange to not have to do anything, but I'm embracing it since after this break, I don't know when I'll ever be getting one next.

So what have I been doing these days?
Seeing friends here and there, spending time with relatives, going to weddings, helping 세은이 언니 plan her wedding, working on her invitations, eating a LOT, which equals gaining weight, watching the playoffs, watching old dramas, etc...

What will I be doing next?
I'm pretty excited to read Spurgeon's Sermons on Prayer that Jenny gave me tonight. Also pretty excited about going to Mexico to spend time with my parents. Not so excited about turning 23, but excited about an art project I'll be working on over the summer.

So, hello summer!

Oh yeah, and hopefully I'll draw some more.
