just for fun
Some of you might have known, but Danny came to visit me in Mexico the past weekend. This was the first picture we took, and honestly one of my favorites. hehe. More pictures later once I get the chance to grab them off of Danny.

happy to make you happy
Recently my days consist of painting, eating, sleeping, and the rest of my free time is consumed by thoughts of how to decorate my place. I just signed a lease earlier this week for my own large room and small attached bathroom in a little house 2-3 minutes from where my office is. Anyway, it comes completely unfurnished so every free minute I get I am constantly online checking craigslist, overstock, what have you, for furniture and home decor. There are so many awesome deals, although the nice free couches I find get taken within the hour of their posting.
So earlier this week I found a cute vintage desk that I wanted to make into a vanity. I showed it to Danny since I'm in Mexico, and he's in VA so he'd be the one doing the actual buying and picking up. He seemed a bit hesitant though and I knew he didn't really think it was worth the price. I really liked it, but I told him not to get it if they were too far away or if he didn't think it was worth it. I saw him text back and forth via skype but nothing was for sure. The next day he emailed me saying that he would wait til Friday and if no one bought it by then he'd buy it for $5 less. Though I liked the desk, I said that was fine and sort of just told myself to not get attached to the idea of it. I secretly went back and checked the post to see if anyone had bought it, and to my dismay the post was edited and no longer featured the desk. I asked Danny a couple times to text the owner and see what was going on, but he was busy with work so I understood how it could slip his mind.
As much as I enjoy looking at different furniture and thinking of various design concepts, it got to me today and I was no longer enjoying it. Instead I was stressing out because I had only a couple pictures of my soon to be room that Danny had taken for me...I was lacking lots of information and didn't have enough to make reference in order to design and space out the room. I was getting frustrated and Danny could tell.
I think most guys would have gotten annoyed by my trying to plan a room that I've never been to more than a month before I would actually move in. Haha, I think I annoyed myself even. But Danny apologized instead. He was sorry he didn't take enough pictures. He offered to go back and ask about the dimensions. I was still unhappy. All of a sudden he told me he had a surprise. He didn't even make me guess because he felt sorry for me. He took his laptop to his room, and lo and behold...this is what I saw.
The desk I had wanted but had given up on! It turns out he had wanted to surprise me upon my arrival. Of course I just had to ruin it by being my dumb self and getting frustrated, making Danny reveal his surprise early to cheer me up. But it did cheer me up. Yes, the desk is the desk I wanted. But, the actual desk did nothing in comparison to the thoughtfulness of the person who bought me this desk. He left work early, he drove an extra 2 hours, he bought it though he wasn't sure if it was worth it, he bungee cord-ed his trunk because the desk wouldn't fit, and he kept it all a secret just so he could surprise me. I have to admit, I have a pretty awesome boyfriend.
He had to go out to eat so I texted him through the internet saying my thanks once again, and a couple minutes later I received an email from his phone number. Seven words.
"Makes me happy to make you happy. "
I'm a pretty happy camper.
